Manchester United have taken the highly rated Benfica duo, Joao Filipe and Joao Virginia on trail and if the duo impress during their stint at Carrington they would be given permanent deals at Old Trafford.

New Cristiano Ronaldo in the making at Manchester United
United on verge of signing the next Cristiano Ronaldo
The 15-year-old winger Filipe has been dubbed as the 'next Cristiano Ronaldo' and along with the other young prospect Virginia are considered as the best young talents in Portugal in recent times. All the major Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have been chasing the young starlets. Barcelona almost signed Filipe, but their offer was rejected by Benfica who were believing that the youngster would sign up for a long term deal.

United have managed to grab the highly rated duo so that they could add on to their impressive tally of young superstars along with Adnan Januzaj, James Wilson, Tom Lawrence, Jesse Lingard and Michael Keane.

Wayne Rooney celebrated his new contract extension after a brilliant volley against Crystal Palace last night. United picked up their first away win of 2014 with goals from Van Persie and Wayne Rooney. Rooney is now fourth on the all time goal scorers list, 42 behind the club legend Sir Bobby Charlton who is leading the chart with 249 goals. Rooney, who has 151 goals from 300 league matches, will go on to become the club ambassador after his retirement as per the terms in his new deal signed recently.

As per the terms in the new five-and-a-half year contract he will be paid £300,000-a-week and will remain in the No 10 shirt making him the highest paid player ever at United.
Rooney signs new contract at Manchester United
Rooney after their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace
United were keen on keeping their best players at the club extending the contracts of Januzaj last October and now Rooney this February. David Moyes responded after their 2-0 victory "We thoroughly deserved it. Wayne's finish was exquisite". He also added saying "We're building a new team and the best players will stay".

According to the Sun "United are convinced that have won the £25 million battle for Germany’s Ilkay Gündogan." which also heated up the chances of Kroos joining United as Moyes himself scouted him during Bayern's 2-0 Champions League victory over Arsenal at Emirates this mid-week.

Moyes also added saying "I can't tell you the amount of phone calls I've had from top players around the world who want to play for Manchester United." and with big names already being linked with United we can expect some new faces this summer at Old Trafford.

Juan Mata is growing increasingly frustrated with him not being able to break into the Mourinho's squad at Chelsea. This could probably open the doors for Manchester United who badly need creativity in the mid-field.The defending champions have registered their first win in 2014 over Swansea last Saturday and Moyes is looking forward to add to his squad before the end of this January. However, the sources claim that United are ready to make a £27m bid for the Spaniard with Bayern Munich also in the race.
Juan Mata move to Manchester United nearer
Moyes was seen scouting Davide Astori and Arturo Vidal this Sunday and was also interested to bring back Paul Pogba from Juventus. He also got concerns with captain Nemanja Vidic who runs out of contract at the end of the season along with Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand. Evra has already confirmed that he would not be ending his career at Old Trafford due to personal reasons. United look out for a quick replacement in Luke Shaw or Leighton Baines which have not been any success so far.

United are also showing interest to bring the wonder-kid Ever Banega to the Premier League.Barcelona's boss commented ahead of their Copa del Rey semi-final clash against Valencia, "He is a fantastic player, really have to concentrate in order to limit Banega's effectiveness".

With just into its second week of the new season, Premier League witnesses the greatest of the rivals, Manchester United and Chelsea taking on each other this Tuesday. Both the teams have new set of managing personnel with Sir Alex Ferguson announcing his retirement in May and handing over the responsibilities to his fellow countrymen David Moyes. Chelsea on the other hand welcome their most successful manager, Jose Mourinho who marks his second coming and promises to be a historical one this time.
With new additions, both teams need to prove their worth in what seems to be a new era for the two giant football clubs. Chelsea has signed Andre Schurrle, Marco van Ginkel and Mark Schwarzer this summer along with Lukaku who returned from his loan move to West Brom last season. He was amongst the goals, scoring 17 for them for Baggies last season. United have signed only one player Varela, a right full back along with Zaha who returned from Crystal Palace to which he was loaned to in January.
Rooney decides his future as United face Chelsea
Both the clubs need to settle terms with Wayne Rooney, who probably wanted a move to Chelsea at the start of this season. There were rumors that the England striker requested for a transfer and was expecting to leave Old Trafford in early May itself. But Moyes dismissed the claims and answered the press saying "Rooney is not for Sale". Chelsea have already submited two bids for Rooney under £25 million mark which were rejected by United and have already sent a letter to Chelsea not to bid for the England International as he's not for sale.
With a score to settle on  and off the pitch as well Moyes has a challenge going into this game. With injuries to Hernandez, Nani, Young and Rafael, Moyes needs to look up to his young-guns to fire. Moyes played Rooney in the second half against Swansea in which he created two goals for the Red Devils which marked their first win of the new era under David Moyes. All eyes will be on Moyes and Rooney whether he'll make Rooney start or even play against the club to which the striker wants to move to.
All in all this one will be an exciting one for the fans.

Chelsea were stunned by QPR as they lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge yesterday night. Chelsea started the match with Mata, Hazard, Ramires and Cole on the bench and Peter Cech was out with an injured. The match looked quite low as both the sides fight hard to get up on the score sheet. The first half ended 0-0.
Hazard, Mata and Ramires came on in the second half to master much of the possession and kept on pressing at the QPR defense. Shaun Wright-Phillips who came on in the first half for Hoilett scored from a long range effort, outside the box finding the bottom corner of the Chelsea goal. It was a sublime finish from the former Chelsea man.

Arsenal move to the third in the table as they win against Wigan, all thanks to Arteta who once again converted from the penalty spot, this Saturday night. Arsenal were not so comfortable as the home side looked threatening with their burst-out runs from the middle. The Arsenal defense had a tough time in the early stages of the match when the Ivory Coast striker Kone went past Mertesacker only to see his shot edge past from the Arsenal goal line. The first half ended 0-0 as both sides fail to open their scoring.

Two penalties from Mikel Arteta were more than enough for Arsenal to seal their victory against West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium this Saturday. Arsenal started the match with Wilshere, Arteta, Chamberlain, Gervinho, Cazorla and Giroud up front. Gervinho and Chamberlain had their chances in the starting line up with injury to Walcott, and Podolski who was on the bench.

Early bursts from the Arsenal front line made it difficult for the West Brom defense and eventually they conceded a penalty in the 26th minute, which went in favor of the gunners as there was no contact from Steven Reid on Cazorla. Mikel Arteta saw the ball through the middle of the West Brom goal, marking his first conversion from a penalty spot this season.

Arsenal scored five against their City rivals Tottenham this Saturday as their former striker Emmanuel Adebayor was sent off in the 19th minute. A high boot on Santi Cazola saw a straight red for Adebayor who opened the scoring for Spurs in the 10th minute. The match was then controlled by the Arsenal mid-field, who dominated the most of the first half from then on.

Gareth Bale managed to pull a goal back for Spurs in the 70th minute but it was too late for them to pull out something from there on. Client Dempsey came on as a sub in the second half who played along with Defoe and Bale, the trio in the front for Tottenham this weekend.
Spurs now are eight in the table with three straight loses to Wigan, City and Arsenal. A worrying time for Andre Villas-Boas.

Norwich City upset Manchester United this weekend as they beat United 1-0. This was Norwich's second notable win after they beat Arsenal couple of weeks ago.Pilkington's headed the ball to the far corner, by a cross from Garrido which marked the lone goal of the match. Norwich even managed better possession than United who were sloppy in the midfield. Ruddy pulled out two brilliant saves in the dying minutes which were enough to beat the Red Devils, a win which they last saw in 1993.

This was United's third loss in the league, and were pushed down to second in the table behind City who are a point ahead of the Red Devils. Ryan Giggs played for 90 minutes, but was missing his class and touch of the ball, he was not able to control the mid-field which eventually made them lose the match. For the United veteran its probably the time to go.

Wayne Rooney, Jonny Evans and David De Gea were not a part of the squad which lost to Norwich last night, the good point for United was that Phil Jones was available after his injury and was on the bench.
